Read all the Rebus books so am happy to read there is a new one. Thought Rankin had finished with him. Happy to see there is a new one. Not reached our shores yet though

Amazon don't deliver here anymore any ideas where I should look. Not much into buying online. Kalahari is our best online bookstore and they don't have much Glasgow literature

Allan said "There but for the grace of God" They waited til the end and did not try to leave early. That was the gate they normally went out but because of all the confusion they left by the other gate

Great you had such a good time Charlie, you are looking good. My Step grannie was from Whiteabbey and my Grandpa worked in the shipyards there. What a mix I come from. Great Kaffliks from Tipperary and Galway Bay, a step gran who played the fiddle in the Orange walks and now a favourite cuz from Bundorran. My Grandpa and Gran eloped to Glasgow to get married and that is how I am a Weegie, Not quite aff topic ah hope

You know Charlie, I was rotten at history so when I said I did not fancy Robert the Bruce, I thought I had missed something. AH KNOW, don't shout me down, but after watching Braveheart I always knew I was not so daft, so thank you for confirming my doubts

Charlie, just signed in. Heavy heart for you but I am sure maureen would be loving the fact that her family hold her so dearly. Oban is a beautiful part of God's very special country. we spent not enough time there on our way to Iona as we were running out of time on our last visit. Take care my friend.' As for the Jubilee, have to confess of a very lazy Sunday. Came hame fae the kirk and switched on the TV and then did not venture out again. What a splendid display HRM and her family were magnificent, and to see the wee boats that were at Dunkirk, well, I cried. To know that there were three of the Dunkirk veterans on board was something else. Just wish we had been able to see them. Forgetting about Auld enemies and the rest. This lady has done a wonderful job and I think her grandson and his wife will carry on the traditions in a fine way. As I say, my post is totally non-political, just admiration for a woman who has done her job to the best of her ability. Well done Ma'am

Children always come first, but when you are talking about a new country at our ages and pensions and exchange rates and the affordability of buying a home. All these things come into play and as much as the heart rules the brain has to work also, unless you have loads of money of course!

Thanks Keelies for your concern, most of you know me enough to know I go through these spells, especially as AH WANT A HOALIDAY HAME. Sandy hills, I have no old wouldns at home, I just hear of so many folk who do have them and as I work with old folk, I KNOW that many folk have issues that should be dealt with but are often not and then suddenly it is too late and often all because of pride. I was talking about my Mum's cousin I found by accident and who has re-kindled my mum's family and put me in touch with a very special old lady. I was very young when my mum cut us off We last saw our very precious daughter and son in December 2010 and have been fortunate enough to be able to afford to see them every three years. they are both in Aus, opposite sides, and us in Africa. The thing, as most of you know, is, I LOVE SCOTLAND, and my heart longs for it, but I am a mummy and I also love my children. Oh well, we have to wait for the dugs tae die to make a final decision, but I really need to see the green green grass of home together with the bluebells (Just in case anyone things I have certain leanings ;d)

Isn't it just?. Whether we are far away from home in distance or far away cos we have had a big fall out. Yes i am feeling mellow tonight and not cos of the red red wine.(too early for that) My wee auntie is the last contact I have with loads of my family and she will be 86 in July. it is sad. A decision my mum made many years ago to cut us off from all family. Thanks to a very special person, I am now trying to decide, do I come home to Scotland, the land of my heart and try and meet up with family, or go over the water to Aus to see my precious daughter, next year. I am in an terrible situation. So all of you who have had wee tiffs wi the family. KISS AND MAKE UP. Don't live with regrets

Glad you enjoyed it. We don't get many big shows here anymore. They are too expensive and Durban folk don't want to pay the prices. Council want them to play at the Moses mabhida Stadium and if it rains you get soaked. Also we are out of town so the trip home is rotten

Ah know ah talked daft but I liked being part of Keelies as opposed tae keelies too. Ah felt lie an afterthought. Like when our precious daughter had her second son and her ma-in-law said another boy. We were ecstatic, mum and son were alive and well

CAterina, Years ago Allan bought a Weber (Kettle Braai) and it was one of our best investments. Beer can chicken is exactly that, a chicken with a a half can of beer stuck up its backside. Allan puts butter and herbs under the skin and then cooks it in the weber. I cook the veggies on a tray under the chicken in the drippings. Delicious

1977, we were living in UDI Rhodesia and cut off from the rest of the world. that was party time for us. I was 26, Allan and I were both working hard and playing hard. Television, radio and newspapers were pretty well censored, so not much came in. But it was a good time

mcgoo, is this the one they would have been working on in 2009? if so we visited it and were very impressed. Unfortunately the Tam o Shanter presentation was very poor, but as I say, it was a work in progress. It was brilliant for me as I had never visited that area before, much to my shame. We did the whole thing

WOuld be a great idea Charlie if we could chip in a wee bit as a token of appreciation. As fur Lyn takin everything serious.... ye cannae blame the lassie, she has been in deep pooh at times for really just sayin things, that really were not meant to be offensive or out of order. That's why I stopped posin oan the continuous story. Ah felt ma erse wis skelped LOL ;D ;D
