I remember my big sister (Caterina) taking me to see Zulu in the State Cinema in Shettleston. I was only about 8/9.
Thinking back it was a bit of a strange choice for 2 young girls ;D

So sad but true, everyone in an addict's family is affected I saw a lot of drug addicts when I was working in a previous government department and I also visited Phoenix House who deal in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and saw first hand a lot of the good work they do.

By the way do you know the origins of the song 'Just Can't Get Enough... No, only that it was originally sung by Depeche Mode in the early 80s when I was a regular "up the dancing" BTW, I only heard the Penny Arcade song for the first time a few years ago and it was at a Keelies night out. It was either Daisy or her husband Jim who sang it at the karaoke in the Belvidere Bowling Club ;D

it is doing their nuts in trying to work out why the bears have chosen it for their charity.hi diddle lee dee................ Yes Andy, I have already heard the daft reasons for it and they are way off the mark but hey let them believe what they want...as long as we know why, that is all that matters. I am a member of loads of footie forums and have a lot of Celtic supporting friends and no one to my knowledge is "doing their nuts in" trying to work it out. We don't care................................. I really like the Roy Orbison version, haven't yet heard the charity version but if it is sung well I'll probably like that too, is that a terrible crime in your eyes for a Celtic fan to admit

Hi Carol - no I wasn't joking - I thought the bus was called the happy bus cos I'm sure I've heard people referringn to the "wee happy bus" When I worked in Pitt St DSS as was then, we were linked to offices in Springburn, Maryhil, Cranstonhill and Bridgeton and to transfer work and sometimes staff between just those offices an official car was used which we all called "The Happy Bus". Senior management never thought this was professional enough and tried to get everyone to call it the "District Courier" Didn't work, and in the end it was known officially as "The Happy Bus" even to management ;D

Spent 16 hours on a bus last night coming from Glasgow To Cumbernauld. What a nightmare. Left Buchanan street at 1pm yesterday and got home this morning at 6am. Stranded on the motorway after cars and lorries broke down, Managed to keep everyones spirits up, as I was the eldest on the bus there was one woman ( who happened to be sitting next to me, who thought she was gonna die) trust me to get the gloom and doom wan. The police managed to come on after 14hours with cold water, toilet rolls and biscuits, great help that was. They also told us we could get out and walk, aye right -18 and snow up to our bum. One toilet stop at the Crowwood Hotel, which meant we were all sitting with our legs crossed, tried to book a room at Hotel, but they were all full up. Finally managed to get to Condorrat and cross the bridge home at 6am this morning. Neil was also stuck, but managed to get home after 7 and a half hours, couldnt even come for me, as his car chucked it as soon as he got near home. Our transport system should be ashamed of themselves, as the whole night was a total disaster, an ambulance mananged to get through for a pregnant girl, thought of telling them I was pregnant, so they could get me off, but I would need to have stuck a cushion under my coat and a bag over my head ;D What an experience, one I hope never to go through again, I am staying in the hoose FOREVER Poor you, I don't blame you for not wanting to go out again. I thought I was bad A girl in my work left early yesterday and didn't get home until 6am this morning. Needless to say she phoned in for a day off today I got a lift in to work this morning, my car is still stuck round the back of my flat. We were told to leave at 1pm and some people didn't know how they were going to get home, think some were going to stay at a hotel in town. Luckily I got on a train and my stop is Belgrove as that's the end of the road for the trains, still going to Helensburgh in the other direction. Hate this snow

Well, looks like you and father dunn might get to be pals - why not give it a try. My own Dad would often say 'Thats it Mary am going tae the Sacred Heart Chapel wi you on Sunday ah really think am ready fur turnin' 'Aye right!" mammy wid shout 'Tell me when yur sober!! ;D ;D I have a couple of wee stories about holy water too, both true - will put them on laterDo you know I've just realised I must be addicted to facebook, I was looking for the "like" button on this post ;D Back on thread.......... There has been so much bad publicity this year regarding a minority of football fans making a fuss about the poppy and Remembrance Day that it is so heartwarming to see people of different faiths paying their respects in this way. My own office of over 250 staff had a two minute silence which was impeccably observed.

There's more to life than football Charlie There is more to life than fitba Caterina... Oh look, you beat me to it ;D ps..I edited your post by bringing "life" to it

I was phoned today by Tam and he told me the wee Garden of Remembrance at the corner of Tobago Street and London Road was being demolished. Why...especially as it has just been included in the new Calton Tour booklet published by the City Council. No doubt we will see what remains tomorrow. That's a shame, I didn't know there was a garden of remembrance there Was it near that pub at the corner

I thought that myself Trotsky, they must have all died quite young If they were all from the East End it does seem to back up the statistics we read about even though it appears Charlie and his fellow Caterans were pretty sporty in their youth

I said that to lighten things up because things were starting to get out of hand, you don't have to sing if you don't want to, its not my fault you cant sing charlie, anyway don't start on me, I remember not that long ago people jumped on me, for saying a lot less than you have said, I know you say things to get a reaction, from people well you have got your reaction, why don't we move on? I offered to sing patrick but but no one took me up on it. I'm deeply offended

What does that mean...that is for me to know and you to wonder about Anne. ;D Our Andy is a well known figure in the east end and has many friends from both sides from across 'the great divide' despite his obvious personal beliefs and views. Two faced is he then Andy (aka the calton defender) is a Torchbearer of the Truth - Charlie you do make me laugh...ho ho ho...it's fairytale time again ;D And me just back from 12 o'clock mass and determined to try to see everyone's point of view...God give me strength Now, now big sis, count to ten ;D

I read caltondefender's post about "paddygate" and the usual about collecting giros etc... but didn't see any posts after this so don't know who the "blue rinse" brigade or "noddies?" are As for "you are one of 'the ground troops' Andy and are probably more aware of what is happening 'out on the streets' " what does that mean

No one on here responded like that Charlie so I am at a loss as to whom you refer. No doubt you will let us know. What I do know is that Catriona and I gave our opinion of our code of ethics . We respects yours , you respect ours !! Where the feck does all this anger come from. We disagree , SO !I am referring o the PC Brigade Andy in general and not anyone on here. There is no anger only an observation at how some people will try and play he racist card at the first chance they fet especially when they are losing an argument. I am a bit confused as to some of the postings on here today as there seems to be cross reference to other posts and pastings that don't seem to be on the board. I suspect a wee attempt at some jiggery pokery. I'm a wee bit lost here Have some of the posts been deleted as I don't see any cross references ps...what song shall I sing ;D

I don't feel the words "paki", "chinky", "jap" etc are themselves racist, however I choose not to use these words as others deem them offensive and I would never dream of offending people deliberately.
Quite a few years ago my mum was telling my young brother and I about a new couple who had moved into her building. She was obviously trying to use the correct phraseology as Alan sometimes tends to treat us like one of his school pupils, but instead of telling us they were a lesbian couple she said " a couple of dykes have moved in round the corner"!!! I still have a giggle remembering the look on Alan's face ;D

Charlie if anyone dared to speak against protestants the way you talk about catholics their posts would be withdrawn pretty sharpish. I think you are crossing a line here and being pretty offensive I don't get your drift Anne as I made a simple statement regards my father who just happened to be a Catholic...he also was a bit of an obliging lassiemaister and treated my Maw like a piece of keech when she was only 19.Therein lies my reason for hating him and hee haw to do with whit his religion was... It seems to me that the very mention of the word Catholic offends people thesedays...remeber Anne I once withdrew the Big Jock Knew topic from here at your request...and I still ask myself why did I do it as child abuse is a serious allegation and should be discussed in order to draw people's attention to the fact that it actually happens. My whole point being re me and Patrick's wee clash is this...it is generally recognised that if you are a Catholic you will support Celtic in this city and if you are a Proddy you support Rangers that is the way it is and if you are a Proddy/Catholic you don't support the other side...and if you do then you are considered by the majority of either side to be a 'Dyke-Dreeper' or a bit of a freak. Patrick being a Protestant and a Celtic supporter and my wife a Catholic an ex-St.Roch's pupil and a rabid Rangers supporter being the perfect example. ;D Unfortunately Anne I only write and read history I do not make it and as for crossing a line and being offencesive...what you see is what you get on this board and in the words of the song 'You ain't see nothing yet'. ;D There is nothing 'meally-mouthed' about the Keelies and we do not make out that we are something that we urnae. I am sure if you search other boards on the web you will find people who will take your money and pretend that they are in total agreement with you and your religion to your face. You have been in my company several times and I ask you to tell me where and when your religion was ever an issue...it is never an issue in my company unless you raise it. And as for offencesive remarks re Proddies being removed...you don't know that until you try it. ;D "Here I stand; I can do no other. God help me..." www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-L3JMk7C1ACharlie just because your father was a baddie doesn't make all catholics the same My first ever encounter with an orangeman was our neighbour in Dunskaith Street in Easterhouse. His house was decorated in red, white and blue and had photos of King Billy everywhere He was an aggresive drunk who beat up his wife and locked his four children in a house with a huge dog guarding them. The dog was always treated better than his kids. On more than one occasion I witnessed the kids being beaten with the heavy dog lead. I was about 9 or 10 and too frightened to tell my dad in case he did it to me (the neighbour, not my dad). This experience doesn't mean I think all orangemen are like him. What I was getting at is it is becoming pretty tiresome with the same old insults "mhanks, septic, the great unwashed" and the rest of the follow follow type rubbish that comes out. Why can't you just support your own team without spouting the same old bile about your rivals As for the "Big Jock Knew" situation, I appreciate this being removed but in no way does this mean I condone child abuse. This is just another slur being used by many Ranger's supporters to blacken the name of a great man who also happened to be a Celtic manager. How does the chanting of his name by your fellow supporters at Ibrox or other grounds help stop child abuse?? It doesn't, it is purely sung to stir up trouble I don't know what you mean by : I am sure if you search other boards on the web you will find people who will take your money and pretend that they are in total agreement with you and your religion to your face I have no intention of being offensive to non catholics, I never have and won't be starting now. Contrary to popular belief this hatred is not taught in Catholic schools I'm not falling out with you or anyone, I'm not being "PC" I'm just saying that the constant insults are not "banter" and that Celtic fans and Catholics (even non practising) have feelings too And finally.......... I love that Monty Python film and have the DVD, that is my favourite scene ;D

what's wrong with being a pro--test--tant, and supporting celtic, believe it or not charlie, I wasn't brought up to hate anybody times were much to hard for that nonsence, we wondered were our next meal was going to come from, not who won at parkhead, or ibrox, my mum walked out on my dad and he brought us up, he was a protestant, and she was a catholic so I couldn't hate one or the other. Nothing ito do with hating anyone Patrick...but I prefer my Celtic supporters to be Catholics. I just don't feel comfortable with Prods who support Celtic as you never know when they will turn their coat again...plus converts are always worse than the real thing. My father was a Catholic and I am glad my Maw walked out on him once she came to her senses when I was 10 months old. ;D Charlie if anyone dared to speak against protestants the way you talk about catholics their posts would be withdrawn pretty sharpish. I think you are crossing a line here and being pretty offensive
