The Caterans conquer their first ever climb on Ben A'an... the club is still going strong after all these years but are now a golf club.

There a third a ye missin, where did ye leave them ;D ;D When wiz this founded ?? They were founded in the mid-1980's Gordie. We left most of them in the Hotel at the base of Ben A'an. Sadly at least five of he lads in the two photograph are now dead plus the two dogs in the photo have also passed on to the Big Kennel in the sky.

Great photies I'm sitting here pmsl @ Charlies black sannies and turquoise socks lol For those fashion conscious people out there this photo was taken after we had came down from Ben A'an so I had dumped my Italian Mountaineering boots in the mini-bus and changed into something more comfortable. And by the way I was also wearing a pair of cavalry twirl trousers and the t-shirt was Hitler's Grand Tour of the World with his Great Britain gig in 1940 cancelled. I dont think they were sanny's Daisy I think they were a pair of moccassins or Weigans ;D

"Sadly at least five of he lads in the two photograph are now dead...." Thats shocking, so exluding yur good self, at least five out of eight are dead. They don't look that old in the photo mid 30s maybe, so 20+ years later they should be in their mid 50s now

Sadly Trotsky 4 of the 9 in the first photo are dead plus the photographer, Andy Jackson. Four died in their early 50's and 'Auld Harry the Fish' was already a pensioner when the photo was taken. He had actually went out for the Sunday newspapers the morning we went to The Trossachs and we kidnapped him and threw him in the mini-bus.

I thought that myself Trotsky, they must have all died quite young If they were all from the East End it does seem to back up the statistics we read about even though it appears Charlie and his fellow Caterans were pretty sporty in their youth

That's so sad Charlie, but unfortunately not uncommon Just noticed in the 2nd photo that two of them have cigarettes in their hands, after climbing that hill where did they get the puff to smoke
