Spent 16 hours on a bus last night coming from Glasgow To Cumbernauld. What a nightmare. Left Buchanan street at 1pm yesterday and got home this morning at 6am. Stranded on the motorway after cars and lorries broke down, Managed to keep everyones spirits up, as I was the eldest on the bus there was one woman ( who happened to be sitting next to me, who thought she was gonna die) trust me to get the gloom and doom wan. The police managed to come on after 14hours with cold water, toilet rolls and biscuits, great help that was. They also told us we could get out and walk, aye right -18 and snow up to our bum. One toilet stop at the Crowwood Hotel, which meant we were all sitting with our legs crossed, tried to book a room at Hotel, but they were all full up. Finally managed to get to Condorrat and cross the bridge home at 6am this morning. Neil was also stuck, but managed to get home after 7 and a half hours, couldnt even come for me, as his car chucked it as soon as he got near home. Our transport system should be ashamed of themselves, as the whole night was a total disaster, an ambulance mananged to get through for a pregnant girl, thought of telling them I was pregnant, so they could get me off, but I would need to have stuck a cushion under my coat and a bag over my head ;D What an experience, one I hope never to go through again, I am staying in the hoose FOREVER

Oh Carol why are you up the noo, you should stay in yer bed and relax efter that nightmare of a journey. but you did give us a laugh reading aboot it even though it wisnae funny for you living it. So far we have not had much snow and last night when my nephew was stuck on the m8 all night we had a beautiful sun set.So now I'm wondering when we are going to get it bad.I do feel guilty that you are all suffering. I think it is because I am on the coast and the salt water keeps the snow away most off the time. Maybe you should all move doon here beside me ;D

Feeling shattered now, will have an early night I think

I thought I was bad A girl in my work left early yesterday and didn't get home until 6am this morning. Needless to say she phoned in for a day off today I got a lift in to work this morning, my car is still stuck round the back of my flat. We were told to leave at 1pm and some people didn't know how they were going to get home, think some were going to stay at a hotel in town. Luckily I got on a train and my stop is Belgrove as that's the end of the road for the trains, still going to Helensburgh in the other direction. Hate this snow

Carol that must have been awful but as you say you have to make the best of it, Frank said if you had my shawl wi ye that wid uv kept ye a bit warmer HA!HA! glad you eventually goat hame and able tae tell the story.
As the schools shut early yesterday we hid tae walk to get our grandsons as we coulnae get the car oot the drive, leaving from my hoose tae school collect the boys and back again normally takes about 40- 45mins and that's going into the shoaps, yesterday took us 1hour 40mins. My daughter had to walk home from Charing X (the work let them away at lunchtime) to our house to get the boys after walking for about 2 hours her hubby managed to get her about half a mile from ours, he had been in Arden working and stopped about lunchtime and it took him from then until near 3 o'clock when he got to Edinburgh Rd where he picked her up. She said buses were passing her with not in service showing.

Glad to hear that you are now home safe & sound Carol. I've not been out for over a week now and am having to rely on my son in law getting messages for me every few days. I'm at sea level here in Falkirk and the snow in the garden is over a foot deep.

Hi Carol - no I wasn't joking - I thought the bus was called the happy bus cos I'm sure I've heard people referringn to the "wee happy bus" When I worked in Pitt St DSS as was then, we were linked to offices in Springburn, Maryhil, Cranstonhill and Bridgeton and to transfer work and sometimes staff between just those offices an official car was used which we all called "The Happy Bus". Senior management never thought this was professional enough and tried to get everyone to call it the "District Courier" Didn't work, and in the end it was known officially as "The Happy Bus" even to management ;D
