I know a lot of people who had been members of the Brigton Billy Boys (including my own grandad..lol) what has often baffled me is,why Billy Fullerton who was obviously looked upon as some sort of hero gang leader, how come he is buried up in Riddrie cemetery in an unmarked grave, surely with the amount of band members and locals there would put some sort of mark of remembrance to the man. aye yer right there daisy maybe the local lodges should get up a wee rememberance fund and put a memorial statue or something there, big bill campbells got a wee bit on a mural in belfast, as he was the commander in brigton of a para military group. so why not get one for billy fullerton ye,d think the money they get fae books like no mean city and razor king they,d do something not that he was an icon or anything imfamous really but still part of the history of brigtons billy boys which was part of our culture in the auld days, which i believe will die out in years to come.

I have many memories of Bridgeton ,I used to work in a relatives shop in main street across from the wee bakers,it was called mace store ,we sold groceries and had a very busy meat counter,we used to lock the shop door early ,(in the marching season)and run down to the Cross for the bands coming in .I think I had relatives in every band that came in ..lol have cousins who lived or still live in various streets there, like Dalmarnock rd,Main street,James street, landressy streets ,london road,Greenhead street. My dad was born in Ruby street . i stayed above the bakers at 59 main street in the 70s and at the end of ruby street was albany street where i lived as a wean ;D and i was in 2 bands in brigton first the noey in the 60s when i was about 9 or 10 and the wullie wilson in the 70s LOL 138 14 DIST NO SURRENDER ;D AN OLD MATE OF MY DADS STAYED ABOVE THE MERMAID AT JAMES STREET neilly cassidy he used tae play the bass drum in the noey so did jim his son the noey was a good blood and thunder band. we were all proud tae be associated with the noey. i,ve still got a blue jumper in case duty calls, (joke) if ye look up luton and bedford drumming club ye,ll see proper big drums not like the wee daft yins they take on parade a proper big drum ;D there called lambegs

I did. ;D flood lights naw charlie wisnae dangerous enough fur us we,d scale the pylons at kinner road behind london road houses efter we played on the big slag heaps over the railway sidings, we,s walk all the way fae baltic st . is it kinnear road that street called , the polis hud tae get us doon, we wondered whit aw the fuss was aboot, and as for climbing and singing the sash , me and my wee sister scaled a building in kilmarnock at a home we were in, as a protest because i wasnae wearing short troosers and a toffy uniform tae school, i was singing the sash at the top of my voice, and the kilmarnock polis and fire brigade wondered whit the hell hit them with these wee glesga weans. ;D feart nahhhhh daft ayyyyyyyyyye. and when you sang the sash at parkheid up the floodlights ye forgot tae mention there was another 50,000 rangers fans supporting ye on the ground ;D

Ach ya wee fearty Pitbull we used to walk all the way through from Brigton Cross to Whitby Street to avoid the 'Ben Hur' at Nicol Mair's Dairy...I remember one Christmas morning kicking my brand new T Ball over the air vent wall at the Coal Ree on the London Road and having to go down the entry to the tunnel in Whitby Street to retrieve it. Rats the size of cats I am telling ye... i used tae walk alang the tap of that wall at london road there must of been a 30ft drop around that sandstone wall, my maw went mental because she caught me trying tae dreep it, so bet ye couldnt dae that charlie i was the best dreeper in brigton there was a wee guy john at queenmary st school fell climbing a drainy get his ball back, dae ye remember him, it stunted his growth. just remembered his name john wilson.

aye smidy and theres the phone box we used to rifle wi an ice lolly stick and get a least half a dozen sixpences (tanners) ;D ;D ;Deverytime, then we,d go and spend it in the tablet shop, and right outside they gasworks my da, crashed his works mini, and gave me a kicking for just being at brigton cross, he took it on himself, tae take me hame to albany st :-[and my maw wanted a lift, so he took her doon tae dale st and wallop he got whacked wi an auld post office van, i wasnt even there but it was my fault, because he saw me that day, not the fact he shouldnt of been driving without a licence. ;D and theres the bridge at dalmarnock station were we,d come up after walking through the tunnels fae brigton cross ;D and scare the life out of each other in the dark. our imaginations would run riot , funny we never did the tunnels at the other end london road we,d only go as far as boden street were ye could see daylight fae london road where that wall is at crombies licenced grocers. and outside that chapel we,d run up the steps during a service and wind up the priest sing and chanting rangers songs, and the wee cappochi mans cafe at ruby street corner we,d noise up the auld tally shouting you know toni caponi he,s a rhymms with hoof. he,d chase us for miles. ;D ;D ;D and theres bartholomews scrappy on the island at old dalmarnock road where we,d take oor scrap lead and copper, if d.s. whitelaw didnae catch us first ;Dwee jaima got battered wi that stuttery copper tae because the cop thought he was taking the mickey coz he stuttered tae ;D when we were aw playing in the auld creda there wasnt many windows left to smash ;D the white tornado, and the untouchables cornered us big style . ye,d think they,d caught big time gangsters rather than wee weans in there early teens ;D ye wur expecting elloit ness tae turn up any minute with his thomson gun ;D they guys were too heavy handed and what did they expect there was nothing else to do when yer living in slums and theyre pullung it down around ye.

i couldnae tell ye where ye could be buried my granparents an maw are brigton punters and are up in riddrie, and that graveyard trotsky i,m no sure if it was the centre of the parkhead area but do know it was behind the fitba ground if ye walked up yate street i think there was a way to it , its been that long since i was anywhere near that part of glesga , but as for the wall it was a massive walk around the top of it we were often chased off it.
