I remember the noey being at a church service and a certain member who I will just use the intitals HC to identify pinched the Collection bag,the church elder did get it backbefore he got out the building lol i,d say the church elder was gonna get that money back by hook or crook daisy ;D ::)and auld hc was a big lad so that church elder was a lucky man. maybe he was playing his flute like he did on oor bus the mermaid when he knocked the money which was nothing unusual he probaly was bevvied and didnae care at the time he was a good laugh any other time.

I had forgotten the name of the sweetie shop so thanks for reminding me (Maxwells) I remember we used to get our sweets from there when we went to the minors on a saturday morning in the Olympia.

Can anyone tell me the name of the big shop that use to on the corner of Main st and James St I dont hear many of you saying about the co-op that use to be at the bottom of Dalmanock rd 1960s near the toll I use to run round to it for my ma every Sat it was beside the Big Undertakers do you's remember that place I mind we use to go up the close beside the Ankor Bar on main street up to the back courts which was above the shops in Dalmanock Rd look down into the undertakes and see if we could see any bodys use to scare the pants off us

And yes I remember the band from the toll and like Scotty I was in the Noey and the Wilson band in fact it set out my life for me ha ha I'm still in bands today so is all my own family now and we all play flutes and I live in Ulster who would have had thought of it ha ha

Hay I know that wee song ok Waverley I was Born In 26 Main St Bridgeton Cross Up the Pen as it was known moved up to fairbarn st about 1966 but was always was a brigton man ha ha naw ye wurnae yer a dalmarnock punter ye forgot aboot when ye stayed in wodrop st ya wee baltic man ye ;Dor is it woodrop i canny remember its been yonks since i came tae yer auld hoose, when we went up the glenruth hotel every sunday furra wee bevvy.

hello wee betty gibby rings a bell if he drank in the mermaid in the early 70s i,d of known him i recall a gibby on oor supporters coach, he was a pal of wee jimmy clark and big jumbo.

The only Gibsons I knew of came from Dunn St but I can't remember first names is this the same family you speak of wee betty?
Pitbull you mention big Jumbo did he live on the London Rd at Boden St you know the building where curleys and the launderette was as I knew a guy from there but we called him big Jimbo for the life of me I can't remember his second name.

I will try and get that photie of maxwell sweetie shop someone referred to.. My family took many photies of the Cross from our actual tenement window. of the umbrella, the Olympia and so on..where gone to, I Do not know Anyhow, I DO have the one left (looking down on the buses and over at timpson and right up Dalmarnock Road. .

hello adaline. re. jimbo. your right,his name is JIMBO MCMANUS.the last i heard he was still living in the (white scheme). it faces london road police office. he proberly lives in one of the new low level houses now in main street,his legs give him a bit of bother. you'r also right about him living up curley's close. personally i thought it was called cochranes and wisemans clothe shop next door. cheers jappo.

where wiz curleys anywize was it the very busy shop roon the toll where the barbers used to be? I get mixed up with the one up the main street..sold cooked ribs etc..

well i do have another one ...of the umbrella all dressed up for the coronatin its actually a painting ... it was sent to me by the author of 'wearing o' the green' he was a driver on the trams for year... then went to uni then on to be a teacher then headmaster...I dont know who the actual artist is...

I know Wullie Tollan the author of the book Alice...he sent me a copy of his book when it first came out some years ago...I have seen a photograph of the Umbrella done up for the Queen's Coronation. Did you know he was also a priest...

that wee guy was one of my closest friends in brigton charlie, am glad am no the only one wearing glasses these days haha i,ve been a mate of wee nibbs since we were 3 or 4 years old he was always a genuine wee guy one of the best, glad he got over his illness. ;D
