Where did Charlies snooker hall go, I thought it was next to the pub and another thing, was there a bowling green at the back of the pub at some point and if so where was the ABC cinema, thought that used to be next to the pub

Think so patrick but wasCharlies no upa close, the building to the right looks like shops, must be a new building and a new flats next ti it as they are not there on the first picture, but what about the bowling green wherer does it fit in if the spot to the right was the cinema, was it directly behind the pub or was that space to small for a bowling green. Remember getting into the cinema after it had closed down when we were kids (was it a fire?) and "exploring" around inside but don't recall a bowling green at the back or side off it

Charlies was above the shops next door to the pub, you can see the entrance between the shops.

I think the Whitelaw family who came from Barrowfield owned it for a while, but sold it not too long ago.

So, is the building in the photo to the right of the bowlers with the three upstairs windows the building where the snooker hall was. I thought Charlies was an L shaped room with the counter at the door as you went in on the left then three tables along the long bit and one table around the side out of view of the counter. I seem to remeber that bit round the corner having a window as well but in the photo it doesn't look like it could have as there is no gable end, it looks like the two buildings are joined up What is the building used for now, flats

Was there a Bowler's Tavern in Muslin-Greenhead Street. Renamed 'McKenna's' at one point?

Hi Brownlee the Bowler's pub in Brigton was at the corner of Tullis St and Greenhead St, it is still there well the building is don't know if it's still open, don't know if it was ever called McKenna's.

was it still a snooker hall sandy hills when the whitelaw family owned it, only I remember in the 60s going there with my dad and it was a gambling club, not a snooker club? Patrick I was talking about The Bowlers pub,not the snooker hall, being owned by the Whitelaw family.I never used that snooker hall preferring instead Allens on the other side of the road.

It was called Whitelaw's about five or six years ago but I guess you are talking about another time Sandy Hills.

Is that the same Wallace's who lived along Crail street. I was in the same class at Parkheed school with a guy called Wallace(forget his first name) who might have been the younger brother of this guy, he had ginger hair, we both ended up going to Newlands then I think he went on to Wellshot school and I went to rivvy. Don't know if he drank in the Bowlers Rest though

Re post 12. Error, I meant Tullis Street. I seem to remember the name McKenna's on the outside at one point.

Used to drink in the bowlers when working in Mc Vities.Thursdays and Fridays in the lounge seemed to be half Mc Vities and the other half parkhead bus garage. Did one of the people who ran it for a while not have a daughter who was deaf but was a champion disco dancer, moving to the vibration from the dance floor?(or was there too much cola in my vodka)

Margaret who was the manageress in the late 1970's and early 1980's had a daughter who was deaf and as you say she was a champion disco dancer and danced to the beat of the music with the vibration coming from the floor. I spent many a good night in the Bowlers Wullie when my pal from Bridgeton Alex Hardie ran it before it closed about seven years ago when it was by far the best pob in Parkhead. It was from there I used to go to Ibrox on the Rangers Supporters bus which ran from there in the early 1960's. How ironic that I was to return 40 years later and run the Walter Dniel Tull Parkhead Loyal RSC from the very same pub. A ggod pub and building that went to waste and it will be a sad ,sad day for Parkhead when it gets bulldozed.
