Had my first under age drink in this fine east end drinking palace. Most of the guys I grew up with in Janefield Street used it, and afterwards on a Friday night at 10.00 it was either a bus to Barrowland or into the Indian restaurant a few doors along with our cairry oot of bottles of Heiniken, as they didn't have a licence, then off home through the graveyard about midnight, over the wall and back into 'Janey'

Did that supporters club take the place of the original wan that met in Newlands school 1960's? The bus used to go to Ibrox from the street that ran off the X where the bank was next to the toilets

I reckon they did Trotsky the bus which left from Burgher Street was also connected to the Bowlers Rest pub and I went to my first Rangers games on that bus with my Uncle Wullie Bulloch and auld Jackie Coutts.

The guy who was in charge of the bus looked ex- military and had a thin moustach like that American actor Earl Flinn, him and two of the committee men, one a really tall guy and other a wee dumpy guy, used to drink in the Palace Bar before going up to the bus for the trip to Ibrox.
