Attached to Calton Parkhead Church in Helenvale Street. I was a member in the late 1960's/early 70's. Our Friday night meetings were at Newlands Primary School in Springfield Road. We used to play our home football matches at Milncroft Primary School at Cranhill. The school still exists, but what was the football pitch has been reconstructed as part of the new school. We would train in the summer down at West-thorn Park, and I remember playing in the Summer Cup at Tollcross Park. Any former colleagues out there

Many thanks Carol I never knew the two Flannigan brothers but I know their Ma and Da very well...one of them was in the Clanny recently and it was then that several people started to talk about them both playing for Leicester City. The goalie Palmer is the brother of three brothers who all played for Bridgeton Waverley Amateurs plus their Da played for Bridgeton Waverley Juniors.

A nice souvenir hand out in tonight's Evening Times celebrating 125 years of the Boys' Brigade.
Listed are all the remaining companies, but sadly the old 67th is defunct. Those still remaining from the east end are ;
27th from Mount Vernon
72nd from Dennistoun
94th from Shettleston
111th from Baillieston
134th from Tollcross
137th from Garrowhill
162 from Carntyne
222 from Hogganfield
228 from Bridgeton
Long may they all continue and give enjoyment and guidance to their membership.

I wiz a member of the 67th during the late 60's early 70's, came up through the shipmates, then the lifeboys, then into the BB. Can't say I recognise any of the boys, but the guy 2nd from the right in the suit, was a Mr Bill Gray, who was there when I was a member. Some of the guys who I can rememeber who were there were Iain Palmer and his big brother Tommy, George and Tommy McCann, Eddie Gilmour ( who introduced me to Deep Purple... bless him) and his big brother. Johnny and Davey Johnstone, Walter (Zeno) McFadzean. Ian Kiggins There was also a guy called Bryce Wilson??.... who was always a good laugh.

I knew Bill Gray Gordie...he was still involved in the church when our Day Centre was based there...alas, he died several years ago and there is now a room in the newly renovated church dedicated in his memory. Yes it was a great loss to our city when the Boys Brigade and other organisations were denied direct funding from the City of Glasgow Council because they were termed as 'uniformed organisations'.

Hi Waverley, Knew Tam was George's brother and that Tommy is in Australia. Caught up with him a few years back when he was on a business trip and one of my friend's from Rivvy, Jessie, was here for a holiday. Last I heard he was living in Cronulla in Sydney but haven't seen him since he moved here permanently. I keep in touch with Shugie via email too. Vicky
