Charlie/Carol move/delete if neccessary. I tried to find a thread for the church but couldnae find one. I was in my local on Sunday afternoon and could hear noise coming from their upstairs lounge. This was unusual as there is normally nothing on in there on a Sunday. Anyhow it turned out to be a christening party after the event for one of the locals grandsons. They started drifting down into the bar after the "party" and the minister that carried out the ceremony was the minister of St Thomas' in the Gallowgate. I got talking to him (Peter is his name) and during our conversation he informed me that the C.O.S had around 1200 parished a few years ago which has dimiunished to around 800 at this present day. peter did not think that his church, and most of the other parishes in Scotland would survive in future years due to dwindling attendances. I just thought this was a sad prospect

Billy you are right Peter is the minister at St.Thomas's in the Gallowgate and is a bit of a character. He was originally an English vicar but converted to Presbyterianism when he met his wife who is the miniter at Calton Parkhead Kirk, Yes the Church of Scotland is losing members by the thousands every year and they only have themselves to blame as their members are not into ecumenicalism and the younger people are getting more involved with the Orange Order , the Apprentice Boys and evangelical churches which will have no truck with Catholicism. I know mant Orangemen who are now attending Peter's church because he preaches what they want to hear and he has a reputation for being a bit of a fire-brand minister.
