I found this to be a really fascinating read with some interesting facts on the Maley family and the early days of Celtic. Born 'on the strength' in Ireland in 1868 to Irish parents his father was a Sergeant in the Royal North British Fusiliers who once allowed a suspected Fenian terrorist by the name of Welsh,he arrested on Dublin Quay, escape on a ship to Scotland in 1867 which was to have significant repercussions in the formation of Celtic twenty years later. Maley himself was to remain a devout 'Royalist' throughout his life and even ordered the Celtic players to turn up for training wearing black ties as a mark of respect when the news of Queen Victoria's death reached Glasgow. Legend has it , 'Yes, hes the man wha' pist the tick in Celtic'!'.
