Seeing the crash fotie at Brigton Cross this morning reminded me of a tram crash at Parkhead Cross / Springfield Road in the late 50s.
It was a Cornation type tram that jumped the points on a Saturday night (I think), I remember my Da taking me up to the top of Springy Road on the Sunday morning and the tram was still lying on its side with the debris still there, I saw purses, broken specs and shoes there and broken glass everywhere.
Any foties anybdy?

A couple from my wee archive.
On the 24th May 1950, on Great Western Road near to Gartnavel Hospital, 7 people were killed and 43 injured when a bus skidded, overturned and ploughed into an on coming tram car.
On the 28th January 1959, in Old Shettleston Road, a tramcar burst into flames killing the driver and two women passengers.

Funny reading this as I was talking about this morning ,I was 11 years of age and one of our neighbours lost his wife in this accident. The press at the time were hounding the poor man for a photo of his wife, and it got so bad that the men in the street (Eskbank st) chased the Hacks off.
