A memorial to the battle of Sheriffmuir just above Dunblane that we came across on a walking group holiday

Just noticed the name on the memorial there the 1745 Association...are they still going and active I joined it away back in 1977 and bought a life membership for the princeley sum of £25.00...haven't heard of them since - do you think I was bumped by these Jolly Jacobites or whit. Mind you I have contributed more than twentyfold to Covenanter historic groups since then who have been a pleasure to work with and also correspond with on a regular basis. Not wishing to make comparabilities between the two historiacal societies but the 1745 Association always came across as a 'middle class' romanticised group compared to the rough and ready and stern Covenanter group...especially when it came to AGM'S and Annual DInner Dances. Aye Bonnie Charlie's No Awa...he's just lying drunk behind it the fhanny.

Thank you or your kind comments Waverley There is a wood behind the memorial where there is a Gathering Stone. We tried to find it but the woods were too thick. I"ll try again sometime. Ixus 2
