Read both of these fine books within the past year. Mr McBarron and Mr McKenna deserve the credit for filling a previious 'void' in the reminiscences of Bridgeton-Dalmarnock from ordinary people.

For those of you who don't know ;D 'Last Exit from Bri' should actually read 'Last Exit from Bridgeton' written by local racontour and wit Jamesyboy McKenna. His account of everyday life in the east end of Glasgow in the 1950s and 1960s ah could tell ye where you could order it but I'm not allowed Aye yer right yer no... Jamesy is a 'famous' Glesga Pal well known for his stand for all things British, rule Brittania is his cry. John McBarron now hail hails from Carmunock and his well written book has a wee leaning towards the bhoys at Parkhead. I have met John on numerous occasions, a lovely wee man full of enthusiasm for his writings.

I may not be John McBarron. Have you thought of that? As for James McKenna? No way!

I received a book today charlie, its called mc graw I shall start it tomorrow, I knew him and a few others mentioned in the book in my youth it may be worth a read I,ll let you know. To be honest Patrick I am not interested as I have no great love of criminology...especially some of the journalists who write this keech. I knew/ know a few of Glasgow's under world and some of the stories written about them are pure fabrication and Urban myth going crazy. Plus over the years the amount of keech that has been written about the gangs in Glasgow and in particular those in the east end is laughable.

I am not saying that it does not still happen but I personally have no interest in McGraw or any of his cohorts. We are not talking here about good auld fashioned hard men who were members of street gangs we are talking about people who make their reputation through drugs and other crimes. Money bought them power and very few of them could ever fight...and as for the author of the majority of these books Reg MacKay he writes a load of keech when it comes to the guys that I grew up with in Parkhead and surrounding areas.

Aye good question PM 437.
Just watch it Andy Mo! ;D ;D
Cherlie, If you spotted me in the Mitchell why did you not come over? I met Palais Girl up there last week.
There has been a huge overkill on books about McGraw and his kind. Does not interest me, and I AM a big fan of Criminology.
Incidentally,am I the only one out there who nelieves Lord Lucan did NOT murder Sandra Rivett in November '74?
