Naw Eddie we canny call him McDonald as that would be gross vanity on my part. Wee MacGreegor is the epitome of the Glesga wean of yesteryear in much the same way we associate Oor Wullie wi' Dundee. The Wee McGreegor books were written back in 1903 by the journalist and author John Joy Bell (1871-1934). Wee MacGreegor, was a humorous look at Glesga life through the eyes of a child which were serialised in the Evening Times, the book was published in 1902. Over 250,000 copies of the book were sold. Other books were written of the life and times of Wee MacGreegor including him enlisting in the Army during the Great War. I remember getting Wee MacGreegor read to us by our teacher Miss Budge when I was a wean at London Road Primary.

Copies of the original Wee Macgreegor stories can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat format (.PDF) from the following link: www.archive.org/search.php?query=%28wee%20macgreegor%29%20AND%20mediatype%3A%28texts%29These ebooks are all free to download, the only thing you need is a copy of Acrobat Reader, which you can get free from the Adobe website if you don't have it. There are also lots of books about Glasgow, Scotland, and almost every other subject you can think of available on archive.org Just use the "advanced search" option to enter the subject you are interested in.
