This was strictly a man's pub no lounge. But my hubby Neil McLean used to run the Rangers's Supporters bus from there along wi wee Joe Hobbs

Carol I went on that bus several times when I was a young man to Rangers away games. My wife's brother Alex Bell and his pal Mick Clark were regulars in there along wi' George Campbell and wan or two others I knew.
Went on the bus when it moved from the Cross to the Reekie a few times as well. There is a photo somewhere of them when they were in a book about the Rangers at the start of the Sounness era. ;D ;D ;D

great pub remember wee Joe Hobbs other names i remember are Rab [whitey] white Ronnie MC Kenna Ricky [the bookie]richer son] johnny Morton Steffi Morton john black it was well know for card schools etc etc and of course after hours drinking ;D ;D ;D Aw that crowd you mentioned Alec aw drink in the Anchor Bar now. Wee Joe Hobbs was killed in a fire years ago , Steff works in the Asda and Johnie works as the manager of the Bellgrove Hotel would you believe and Whitey is walking about like a big posuer as usual. ;D

i had a few pints in there myself when we worked in the steelworks refractory services where i was an apprentice brickie backing onto beardmores foundry, where they use tae melt the iron ore.

alex is joe hobbs a relation of silver hobbs who used to live in palace st at one time??? Yes they were brothers knew them well

I played darts in the cross many times when i played for the reunion (vi's bar) it was a good shop.

Andy did you know wee Gus was dead...only found out last year as no one had the decency to tell us - a good friend and committee man of Bridgeton Waverley after he gave up the bus.
