Anchor bar aka high Wharton's and low Wharton's was in westmuir st across from greens the roll shop.

I'm sure it was The Anchor. ?
A pal of mine, Willie Mullen owned it at one time early 80's I think.
He also owned The Park Bar.
Sold The Lismore ( Mullens ) in Dumbarton Road to Collie Beattie.
Wullie played for Preston North End. Now drives a Black Hack

The Anchorage...I believe Peter. So were both pubs called the Anchor, Gallowgate and Westmuir Street alike ? Naw Peter The Anchor is in the Gallowgate and The Anchorage was in Westmuir Street

Hi peter it was called the anchor bar westmuir st they were high and low Wharton's if you were meeting your mates in the westmuir pub you would say meet me in low Wharton's High Wharton's gallowgate pub hope this helps. ALEX

I know there was an Anchor bar in Main St but not sure if it was facing the Misty inn Pitbull but I think it was up near Brigton cross end of Main St.

my wife worked in the misty inn for a while just by the pen in main st near brigton cross woman called sally ross was the manager she reckons it faced the anchor bar you could still see a bit of the anchor bar dont know if you still can they left a piece of the wall up for some reason will have a look

The Anchor I am talking about was on the right hand side of Main Street when walking to Brighton Cross.
Benny Gallagher snr. also owned a Pub on the other side not far up from the Park Bar.
Can not remember the name ?
