Recently one of the Sunday redtops gave away a dvd of this match, which I recall listening to on a wee transistor radio, standing with my pals in Janefield Street, back in 1967.
I watched the dvd and what a feckin' match, it was hard as nails, end to end stuff, with a dream result at the end.
In all honesty I think Big Jack Charlton getting crocked, failry early on in the game, really helped the Scotland cause.
That match became the iconic image of Jim Baxter (God rest his soul) of him playing keepie uppie against the World Campions, and making them look, as one pundit later wrote 'spectators with football strips'
This match became a touchstone (along with Bannockburn) for the Scottish psyche.

My uncle 'Jocky' Henderson had promised to take me to this gemme but he decided against it at the last minute as he and his friends didn't want a wee 12 year old hanging around outside the pubs and clubs of London's West End when they were out on the town...I never forgave him for not taking me there.
