Here is a photo given to me by Mr.John Plant whom I bought my first house off in Whitby Street in Parkhead back in 1976. Mr.Plant was the Quarter-Master of the Battalion and he was also responsible for the football team. In this photo he is seated in the front row far left. The guy with the cricket jersey is none other than Dvid Niven who bribed Mr.Plant with his monthly whisky issue to get a game against his great mate Trubshaw the guy in the front row with the big baggy shorts and handle bar moustache.

Was out a wee run on my bike today, took a few pictures along the Kelvin for EEBs site, but thought this was better here. Kelvingrove park today at 10:30 a.m.

Joe thanks you very much for the photo of the Highland Light Infantry Boer War Memorial. I took photos of it a couple of years ago and they didn't turn out all that well and as usual I kept meaning to go back to take more but never did...much appreciated Big guy.

Sixty Four battle honours were awarded to the Highland Light Infantry for services during the Great War. The Regiment lost 598 Officers and 9,428 rank and file were killed , died of wounds or died from disease in the course of the war.

My eldest brother,Colin, was in the HLI and he used to sing a song that went - Across the sea in Germany we heard the Germans say, if this is your kilted warriors we'll drive them all away.
Anyone know the rest?
