Ran from 5 Burgher Street to 64 Helenvale Street, and named after James McEwan of Helenvale, whose son James, was a well known tobacconist in the city.
It was previously known as Jack Street

Thanks for the info. My late father Henry Taylor was born in 23, Mc Ewan Street in 1911. He was the youngest in the family of 5 boys and 2 girls. Not all of course survived into adulthood. His parents were Robert Taylor and Isabella Taylor (nee Walker). I don't know what year they moved to Parkhead but they moved there from Coatbridge. PS I was also born there at no.31 in 1948 and later on my younger sister in 1953 at no.15. All the closes were in the red sandstone building. POSH eh lol
