Runs off Camlachie Street, and named after the Battle of Alma, which took place during the Crimean War in 1854.
At its junction with Fielden Street stood Crownpoint House, which was built in 1761 by Wiliam Alexander, and is named after a fort on the Canadian fronteir. It later served as the offices of British Basket & Besto Co. Ltd.

A really good view of Crownpoint House. Also in the background are the tenements at the corner of Millerston Street and Gallowgate known as the Paterson Buildings, which housed the General Wolfe pub, and Terry Tattoo Artists. The chimney in the extreme background if the Crown Fireclay Works in Millerston Street
