Ok folks a few people have said that they are a bit confused with the various names that seem to appear on here and on the original Keelies board so I will list them in order to clear up the confusion.
The name of the main working group and organisation is GEISHA ( Glasgow East Institute of Social History & Antiquities)
The Glesga Keelies - the original board - is the public face and blog of GEISHA.
The Glesga Keelies Too aka Glesga Keelies II is the social network site of GEISHA where people from the east end can chat about everyday things and their memories of the east end.
SHREW (Scottish History Re-enactment Workshop) - is a group set up in the 1980's for the purpose of studying and re-enactment of Scots history. And whilst the group has been rather inactive in re-enactments in recent years they are still active in studying historical events relating to Scots history. In the past they have been responsible for giving historical advice and took part in several TV and film productions. Groups connected with SHREW are Sir Robert Hamilton's Regiment of Foote and The Gallows Herd.
The Thistle & The Poppy Society was set up in 1990 in order to remember the sacrifice and involvement of Scots Regiments and the people of Scotland's involvement in the Great War of 1914 - 1918. Their main aims and objectives have been to advice and give historical advice re the history of the Great War , locate graves of Scots who paid the ultimate sacrifice for relatives. Plus commemorate events relating to Scots Regiments and servicemen and women in war time. In the past we have given historical advice to such historical platy and films such as The Big Picnic, The Roses of Picardy plus holding commemorative services both at home in Glasgow and in France over the last two decades.
Confused...I thought you might be by now. ;D I hope all will become much clearer over the forthcoming months as I re-develop all the boards relating to the above mentioned groups.
