Amulree Street.
Well thats whit ma Ma' called it, young bucks like me called it the Odeon. Saturday morning meant the Odeon Club. Saturday afternoons meant the matinee at the opulant State up the road a bit.

I went to the odeon club and the state, my mum worked in teh odeon for a while. remember the wee sweetie shop next to it. Remember the queues to get in too

When I took this photo in 1992 it was a bingo hall. Broadway Cinema 19 Amulree Street Opened 25- 6- 1930 By Singleton Cinemas Ltd. Architect James McKissack Sat 1762. Sold to Odeon 9-1936 and renamed Odeon. Closed 25-1-1967, became a bingo Hall Demolished 8-1995

Can't believe it's 14 years ago that they demolished this building remember it well. Went to the bingo there a few times but never went when it was a picture hall but did go to the State along the road.

Remember the queues to get in too When I was 3 to 5yrs old ma daddy used to walk me fae Easterhouse to ma grannies in Tollcross every Saturday morning and we would stop at the wee sweetie shoap and get butternuts and from there on I was on ma daddies shooders.Noo ave goat a big lump in ma throat.
