Poison in Parkheed Killer chemicals have been found buried at one of the key sites for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Parkheed. Builders have been forced to stop work on the new National Indoor Sports Arena and National Velodrome after asbestos was discovered. The only people allowed on the ground - next to Celtic Park - were a team of chemical specialists wearing masks and protective suits. The deadly dust forced workers to down tools more than a week ago and it is expected to take at least another two weeks before building can resume. Residents in the area surrounding the contaminated land were stunned when told them about the poisoning. Retired John Jack, whose home is next to the London Road site, said: "We are the last people to be told about anything like this.
