I shall try Caterina to share in my old mind now what the ball, boot, and goal was. Well for me it was walking home from seeing my grandmother that lived at 4 Fielden Street,my DARLING parents lived next door to her. Three flats on the top landing. Toilet a few stairs down from the landing ,with the famous BIG key,old papers for toilet rolls,I remember waiting till I coulden't wait any longer not to meet anyone,at the same time as my coulden't help myself ,and saying what an embarrassment, the call of nature could be. ;-) Anyway to get back on the subject,I would walk the railings each time after leaving them, after my visit to the low road would take the railings at the toilets on the Gallowgate and walk on them till I reached the old jail and in between them and the Camlachie Community centre at the top of Yate Street was the famous ball, boot, and goal. I NEVER MISSED STOPPING at them before going home to Dalserf Street...... I THINK and RELIVE that OFTEN. XXXXXXXXXXXX Silly OLD ME. XXXXXXXXXXXXXX BUT the boot, shoe, and goal,............. ARE PRICELESS ,for ME XXXXXXXXXXXX
GOLDEN DAYS. XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi Irene,Dr Vernon Smith has his surgery in the Gallowgate opposite the graveyard. I was 37 years old when Yvonne died so he was then a lot older than me. So perhaps your doctor today might be a son? Anyway like your doctor today he was a GREAT,WONDERFUL doctor.

I remember Dr Smith. He had been an army doctor, and was ALSO a GENTLEMAN,a REAL ONE.When my DARLING sister died,he had come to our house and told my parent's shaking his head,Sadly,at the most 48 hours.Yvonne was 34years old leaving two small children. a liitle girl of five years old who SADLY was killed in America in a car crash, and a son too of eleven years old.Darling Julie was only SWEET Sixteen when she died, only day's after passing her driving test, and NOT WEARING her safety belt. How SILLY YOUTH of TODAY can BE. So I THANK YOU with SAD,and also NICE times speaking with YOU Dr Vernon Smith also now has passed to a place where NO PAIN,and SHADOWS FALL.
Till we ALL MEEET AGAIN .......... Merci!. I will ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU WITH RESPECT as a DOCTOR,and also the times we spoke in french together which seemed to please you.XXXXXXXXXXX

Hi Trotsky, Interesting what you said about the younger generation that lives at Parkhead of today, and how they seee Parkhead in their daily life. I am hungry to hear what they like, dislike, and are they happy today living there, and does us oldies that say what our Parkhead was for us when when we were young, hold a place in their hearts to hear ,or well everyone lives with their time and memories, such is life.

Yes I left Glasgow for to share LOVE with the person my heart chose,BUT I left too much LOVE behind, and many rivers of tears. The LOVE is still as strong in France but don't think that knowing the pain and emptyness I caused by doing that to them. Now with much thought as life is so short they would have come first, all the precious times we could have had together and especially being near when they needed me most when they got older and sick in hospital. I say often to myself I should have stayed with them and lived in Glasgow with Raymond he could have taught in a school like he did in France. But now it is the other way Raymond is needed here in France his mther is 94 and in hospital fell at her house and now he is needed as every day he has to be present. So it would have been a real problem on both sides for us.
All my love XXX Pat
