Also known as Parkhead Stadium Railway Station in view of the proximity of the station to Celtic Park. Closed in 1964 as part of the Lord Beeching's Railway line cuts the station lay derelict for years before being being landfilled circa 1989. There was talk of re-opening the station to accommodate the new Commonwealth Stadium and Celtic Park. However, this idea was abandoned when it became clear that apart from the expense incurred on re-opening the line and the the station it would only have been open on match days when Celtic were at home.
