I remember the Co-op in Westmuir Street well. When you won any races at the end of term sports at Rivvy you got a voucher you could only redeem in there.

This one is playing tricks with my memory as to it's exact location is it Delburn Street or Edmiston Street where this wee shop was...or maybe Malcolm Street. © 2009 The Glesga Keelies Collection.

Believe me that is all I done it for...mind you Etta I was about 24 at the time. ;D You brought memories back by having a go at me so much so I went onto the e-Bay and have just bought a mint condition Typhoo Tea Football Collection of Willie Henderson for just over £6.00...it will feature in my plans for the new Blue Room in the house.

Brilliant photos Charlie they take me back to my childhood seeing them again its quite sad to see the place again I had a lot of happy memories going through these back courts playing as a wean. I can still hear the candy apple man shouting fae the back courts and all the weans shouting up to their Mammies for money to buy one

I don't want to start any (more) arguments Charlie, But I think the wee dairy in photo #109 was at the corner of Edmiston St. and Delburn St. I also remember the "Lucky Middens", on hindsight I think it may have been from people moving house and having a good clear out. Brian. Brian on checking again I think you are right about the wee dairy. I stand corrected.

I thought the photo 109 was Edmiston St but with me coming from Brigton and no Parkhead didn't want to say.
I had relatives who lived in Edmiston St that I visited often and I remember this wee shop.

Great photo's Charlie! Brings back a lot of old memories (not too sure how accurate they would be - correct me where ah go wrong if you like Ah remember the wee hoose near the top of Springy road near the post office ???Think my sister in law's family lived there way back Used tae go intae the Sportsmans cafe circa mid 70's wae ma pals. Always remember Tony staunin begind the counter when the cafe wis quiet. Another shop ah remember wis Wards - wis it a hardware shop wae nae windaes Another auld memory wis on a saturday wan of us hid go for the weekly family food shop tae Curleys, wan wid dae dae the same tae Galbraiths, and other shops...... Also remember goin tae a distant relative's hoose on Janey or Malcolm st or Edmiston st 2nd cousin of a 2nd cousin or somthin like that - anyway dont remember the exact close. Dont remember the cafe De Lux ???but looks like near to Dechmont st/Jimmy the chemist shop who wis never oot the clanny - poor guy died in the 80's if ah remember right. Charlie, your photo lookin up towards parkhead cross from aboot janey or whitby st, dis that show a cycle shop before it wis the clanny Whit wis the street layout from Janey up towards the cross??? Ma bad memory goes some thin like this - fae london road goin up tae the cross (on the left hand side) Janefield street, Malcolm st, Edmiston st. dont remember the streets towards the cemetry wall. Goin up the way on the right hand side there wis Whitby st and Dechmond st. The one runnin parallel wae springy rd wis Burgher st (still there ah think) - also seem tae remember when they were puling down old Burgher st there wis an old Salvation Army building on there towards Dechmond st - we used to play in the ruins when we were comin back fae the auld Grananda on a sat afternoon an also playin in the auld ruins of Whitby strret train station. Beyond the lights towards the wire works ah remember 3 of the shops we used tae get sent tae - Bobs dairy every day for 4 pints of milk, Macs general store and Johnny Adairs sweetie shop. Roon the corner on tae London road wis the East Kilbride dairy, the chippy, Strathclyde?? cafe, butchers shop then accross Williamson street the paper shop on the corner. Caterina you must have lived accross the road fae my ma an das hoose - they lived in 607 ah believe before they moved tae Buddon street. Ah also hid an auntie an uncle who lived in the next close on the corner of the square
