I had the pleasure of attending a S.Y.F.A dinner dance in the Marriot Hotel last night. Neil is an honoury member, as he was the President of the league and was involved in Junior football for 23 years I though it was a dinner/dance, but apparently not it was dinner with after dinner speeches (I thought boring), I couldnt have been more wrong, the speeches were brilliant. Speakers were Wullie Young and Craig Brown, whose tales of Celtic and Rangers games were hillarious. There were guys there who had been involved in Junior Football for 50 years and I don't think people realise the amount of work these guys put into the sport. All in all it was a great night and it was great to see many young guys there dedicating their time and effort for such a worthy cause.

We sometimes forget the amount of time put into the fostering and development of youth fitba in this country Carol. I miss my involvement with the amateur game and hardly a day goes by that I am not reminded of the good and the bad times when I was involved with Bridgeton Waverly Amateurs for 24 years.
