Remember my Da used to talk about them, I think he had some connection, maybe played at some point, I think he was also the trainer, or sponge man who would run on to the park if someone got injured with the old wet sponge, where did they play and when was the photo taken, the guy second from right bottom row looks like my Da's best mate.

Trotsky they wore a White Rose on their jerseys and legend has it they were made by local women from the lining of the coffins from the nearby Fyfe and Douglas Coffin Works in nearby Nisbet Street,

Well would you believe it, the guy in the photo I mentioned as looking like my Dads best mate is (was) his best mate, his name is John Lundie and he worked in the Forge, he lived in the close next to the chemists across from Parkhead school, he was a great singer and used to get everyone going with the old songs in our house at New Year that would always bring a tear to the old mothers eye, he had two sons Alex and John, maybe they are still living in Parkhead now?

I am sure that I know one of them and his wife is called Anne Lundie who moved away to Crianlarich several years ago...it has always been rumoured in Parkhead that they were one of the first big lottery winners in Britain.

A know they were a big family, after leaving our wee New Year party John would go over to his mothers house somewhere near the bus depot to go to one of those family new year parties that went on for about three days. The white rose and coffin works connection is interesting, do you know why did they called themselves the white rose was there a Jacobit link as the white rose was worn by supporters of your namesake.

I have seen someone asking this on another Glesga site only the other day. I was involved with the people who were responsible for setting up the old Whiterose Housing Co-operative in the early 1980's. I am sur ethat they took the name Whiterose after the fitba team...why they were called Whiterose is another issue which I am going to delve into next time I am up in the Mitchell. Yes there would have been many MacDonald's who wore the White Cockade in support of the Hosue of Stuart and suffered for the consequences. It is reckoned also that Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed the night in a house in nearby Shettleston when approaching the city in 1745 but there the link ends other than the pub by the name The Prince Charlie...but that building is not as old as it it looks.

Charlie, I referred that person to this board, and I notice that they have now become our latest member.

What else is known about the team, where did they play, when were they founded, when did they pack it in, where would you start to look as I'd imagine there would be little written down and if they folded in the early fifties the numbers left in Parkhead with a first hand memory will be getting fewer and fewer?

Just as well I never put down everything that is in my napper on here...let us just say they equalled a Bridgeton Waverley record once...of course we done it first.

Fantastic Photo. My dad is Frank McAloon, third in from bottom left. His best friend was Joe Duffy (also in photo). My dads brother was Jerry McAloon who played for Brentford, Glasgow Celtic and Belfast Celtic at the end of his career. Wish I could have shown this picture to my dad before he passed. It would have made his day!

Hey i was looking through some old ohotos if my Grandad John ( jock ) McPherson. Him and my Gean Rosey ( Rosemary ) lived in Muiryfauld Drive since it wss built back in the 30s. I know this is a very old thread but nevertheless i will post this. Back in the early 80s the area around Muiryfald/Quarryknowe/Edenwood/Caroline and Dalton Street was being refurbished. New bavk courts etc.. The community comittee in the area at the time John Fagan" Davie Hanratty etc decided that it would be great if someone from the scheme named the area. Lots of older folk put in names for the area but it was my Grandad that came up with the name Whiterose after his old team..He was very proud that they named the area from his suggestion andctheyvhad him cut the ribbon across one of the streets with the newspapers and photographers there. Just thought i would share Paul
