Alan are we talking about the overhead bars that were on the stairs leading down to the 'dunny' at the back door of the Bridgeton Public Halls.

Thats right me and my sister were talking the other day trying to place them we used to loop our legs round them and hang upside down We lived round the corner in London rd above a bike shop and I think there was an optician there as well I remember My mother taking me into the Olympia to watch ''The beast with five Fingers''she must have smuggled me in unless there was no x certificates in the early fifties I had nightmares about the detatched hand playing the piano Even today its still the only scene I remember

New Bridgeton Hall Large Gathering at Salvation Army Ceremony
The handsome new headquarters of the Bridgeton corps of the Salvation Army at Olympia Street, Bridgeton Cross were formally opened on Saturday afternoon. Accommodation for about 350 adults and 370 young people is provided at the new citadel, the cost of which was £6103, apart from a grant of £370 from the national headquarters of the Salvation Army and £800 from legacies. The whole of the money has been raised by the efforts of the local corps. A large crowd witnessed the ceremony, which was preformed by Mr ,A.B. Keay,J.P. Lieut-col .John Jackson general secretary for Scotland presided, The architect Mr John Hamilton presented the key to Mr Keay. The Bridgeton Songsters Brigade gave renderings of some songs during the afternoon 29 the October 1927
